The idea for "Model Mountain"
has its origins back in the 70's when I made several visits to Snowdonia as a young lad with my parents.
Maps had always fascinated me and they were a vital part of the equipment we carried. However, the limitations of their 2 dimensional depiction of relief soon became apparent, and back home
I began to explore the possibilities of developing more realistic 3 dimensional models.
|
One of the first models; the Snowdon Horseshoe.
|
The first model I made back in 1979 was of the Snowdon range in North Wales. From these early trials, I have developed a product that aims to combine realism and accuracy with strength and versatility. These properties can be absent with "off the shelf" relief maps that frequently rely on mass production, complicated GIS data or expensive machinery. The emphasis is on originality, quality and flexibility of production.
